چکیده
Leptochloa chinensis (L.) Nees, is known as a noxious weed species in upland and lowland crop cultivation, has naturalized many countries an invasive plant species. In this study, the allelopathic characteristic of L. was evaluated to understand its invasiveness. An aqueous methanol extract above-grand parts suppressed growth species; Echinochloa crus-galli Beauv., Vulpia myuros C. Gmel. Lolium multiflorum Lam., plants; cress (Lepidum sativum L.), lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) alfalfa (Medicago L.). Significant reductions were observed concentration increased. The effectiveness varied with test present research suggests that may have contribute

Verbesina encelioides: Perspective and potentials of a noxious weed
Verbesina encelioides (Cav.) Benth. & Hook. Fil ex Gray (Asteraceae) regarded as a notorious weed and an ornamental garden plant has found various uses in folk medicine in different parts of the world. This plant possesses analgesic, emetic, febrifuge and insecticidal actions but is mildly toxic to small ruminants, which is attributed to the relative amount of galegine. V. encelioides also prod...
متن کاملAllelopathic Weed Suppression Through the Use of Cover Crops
There has long been observed an inhibitive response by plant species to certain neighboring plants. The Greek philosopher and botanist, Theophrastus, noted this effect from cabbage as early as 300 BC (Willis 1985). Since that time, others have documented similar plant interactions. In 1937, Austrian botanist, Hans Molisch, described this phenomenon as allelopathy, which he determined to be the ...

Weed populations of sprangletop (Leptochloa chinensis) such as Kampung Permetang (KP), Kampung Pida-Tiga (KPT), Sungai Baru (SB1 and SB2), Kampung Pida-Empat (KPE), Singkir Yan (SY), Tanjung Dawai (TD), Dulang Besar (DB) and Kampung Bahagia (KB1 and KB2) were collected from paddy (Oryza sp.) growing areas in Kedah, Malaysia to identify resistant biotypes and their method of control. Weed biotyp...
متن کاملFitness costs and benefits of novel herbicide tolerance in a noxious weed.
Glyphosate, the active ingredient in the herbicide RoundUp, has increased dramatically in use over the past decade and constitutes a potent anthropogenic source of selection. In the southeastern United States, weedy morning glories have begun to develop tolerance to glyphosate, representing a unique opportunity to examine the evolutionary genetics of a novel trait. We found genetic variation fo...
متن کاملA novel role of ethephon in controlling the noxious weed Ipomoea cairica (Linn.) Sweet
Several auxin herbicides, such as 2, 4-D and dicamba, have been used to eradicate an exotic invasive weed Ipomoea cairica in subtropical China, but restraining the re-explosion of this weed is still a challenge. Since ethylene is one of the major intermediate functioning products during the eradication process, we explored the possibility, mechanism and efficiency of using ethephon which can re...
